Las Vegas
The first leg of our journey had us stopping in Texas overnight and arriving at my dad’s in Phoenix the next day. Unfortunately, after we left my dad’s on the way to Vegas Brian started to feel sick and ended up vomiting multiple times on the way there. We thought that it was just that he was motion sick from the mountain driving or at worst food poisoning.
Due to Brian being sick, he missed going to a Penn & Teller show that didn’t have Teller but Michael Carbonaro filling in for him after his heart surgery. The show was ok but not as good as Penn and Teller together. Afterward, we went to the one restaurant that Brian wanted to go to Morimoto. The food was good and the company even better.
On New Year’s Eve, we meticulously assembled a large and colorful charcuterie board, filling it with an array of cheeses, meats, and fruits, and we enjoyed the warmth of the hot tub and the glow of the fire pit. Brian’s best friend Chris made the trip from LA to spend the new year with us, which added to the excitement of the evening. We had an absolutely great time playing a variety of games and spending time together.
The next day Brian was starting to feel better so we decided to ride the High Roller for the Happy Half Hour and walk around the strip. For lunch, we went to Gordon Ramey’s Burger and enjoyed some tasty food. There are no more pictures of the trip after this. This evening we went out to a nice dinner to celebrate our 15-year wedding anniversary but during dinner, I started to feel sick and left early and went back to the Airbnb. Unfortunately the next day my dad fell victim to the same sickness that Brian graciously gave us. This was awful, there were maybe two days during this trip when there was no one actively sick.
I was starting to feel a little better for my birthday as was my dad. My parents took us to dinner at Spago and the Drinks, Food, and Service were top-notch. It was a nice way to end this trip. The picture of the three of us is just us being sad about being sick and feeling like we were going to die.
